Sitaram Yechury unveils 12-ft tall Lenin statue in Tirunelveli
Yechuri said that not all the leaders had come together of their own.
Tirunelveli: The CPI(M) national general secretary, Sitaram Yechuri on Tuesday called for ousting the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, accusing it for “acting like the junior partner of US imperialism, surrendering the interests of India and Indian people for profit maximisation of global capitalism.”
Speaking at a public meeting after unveiling the 12-ft statue of Vladimir Lenin inside the premises of the office of the Tirunelveli district unit of CPI(M), Yechuri quoting the Oxfam report on growing inequality in India, said that 19 richest people in the country enjoys 50 per cent of the wealth of the nation. “The wealth of one most richest person is 26 per cent higher than the entire budget of the nation on health and education,” he charged.
Yechury lashed out at the anti-people policies of the Central government, for facilitating the “loot of Indian resources” for generating greater profit for foreign capital and Indian ruling classes and for the big corporate of India.
Further lashing at the Modi government for the alleged corruption in the Rafale deal, the CPI(M) general secretary too accused the Centre of willingly allowing big corporates escape out of the country without paying back the loan they borrowed from the banks. “Around 12 lakh crore of corporate loans have been declared as non-performing assets (NPAs),” said Yechuri.
Responding to Modi’s criticism that all the opposition leaders had joined together to defeat him, Yechuri said that not all the leaders had come together of their own, but people were pushing the leaders of every political party to that extent “to defeat the Narendra Modi regime in the coming Parliament elections.” In Tamil Nadu, the BJP was likely to go with the AIADMK and both parties must be defeated, he urged.
