VS Achuthanandan, V M Sudheeran trade barbs on age factor
The opposition leader said rival groups in the Congress had now come together to smoke out KPCC chief.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has slammed KPCC V M Sudheeran for questioning his candidature for the forthcoming Assembly polls. The veteran leader was reacting to Sudheeran’s statement that Achuthanandan should learn from Congress MLA T N Prathapan who has offered to opt out of the polls to give chance to others.
“I am in the fray as per my party decision. Sudheeran need not be worried about my candidature,” he said. Mr Achuthanandan said for the past 46 years, Mr Oommen Chandy has been MLA several times; minister, opposition leader and chief minster and he would now be contesting for the eleventh time for State Assembly.
“Mr Sudheeran's wish is to keep Chandy out of the electoral fray. But like everyone, Sudheeran also knows that Mr Chandy cares a damn for his views. The KPCC president, who was shouting aloud against Mr Chandy's corruption and loot, seems to be resigned to his fate,” he said.
The opposition leader said rival groups in the Congress had now come together to smoke out KPCC chief. “Mr Sudheeran has lost the courage to speak against Mr Chandy and that’s why he is misusing my name to settle scores. Mr Sudheeran who claims that he will not stand with Mr Chandy's corruptoin, is in fact silently watching all the wrong doings of UDF government. People of the state are witnessing all these developments,” he said.
Reacting to opposition leader's statement, Mr Sudheeran said people were asking why Mr Achuthanandan is not shedding his greed for posts of power. He said that he had only pointed this out with due respect to Mr Achuthanadnan. “He should not have got provoked to this extent,” Mr Sudheeran said.
