Hyderabad: 75 cases of code violation found

Hyderabad: The State Election Commission has taken cognisance of 75 cases reported against political parties for violating the model code of conduct on various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Prominent leaders named in the cases include Mr K. Taraka Rama Rao, Mr N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Mr G. Kishan Reddy, Mr Ponnan Prabhakar, Mr Balka Suman, Dr Sravan Dasoju, Mr Madhu Yashki Goud, Mr Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mr Surendra Yalagandula and Mr Revanth Reddy.
The poll panel has noted 75 violations of the model code of conduct between March 12 and March 20. The EC has booked 58 cases violations by Facebook pages like KCR Unprofessional, Telan-gana Youth Congress, TRS party, Mango News, ETV Telugu, T. News Live Telugu, Youth Congress, V6 News, AP 24x7 TV, Asianet Telugu, Voice of Telangana, TRS Party Mahbubnagar, Revanth Reddy community page and BJP Telangana.
Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said that based on the severity of the violations, the EC would issue to notices to the persons involved within one week.
Mr Kumar said that if the offenders fail to respond the EC notice, it would lead to stringent action.
Later, in a late night communiqué, the Election Commission said the above information was raw data submitted by its social media monitoring committee and is subject to scrutiny.
