Harish Rao says minister Tudu \'lied\' on Bill enhancing ST quota
The Bill was passed in the Assembly in April 2017 and referred to the Union home ministry through Governor in May 2017, says Harish Rao
Hyderabad: Finance minister T. Harish Rao attacked Union minister of state for tribal affairs Bishweswar Tudu for his statement in the Lok Sabha that the Centre had not received the Telangana government's Bill enhancing reservations for Scheduled Tribes (STs) from 6 per cent to 10 per cent.
Taking up Tudu’s statement, made in response to Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy question, Harish Rao said, "This is a blatant lie. The minister has misled the House by telling lies. The Bill was passed in the Assembly in April 2017. It was referred to the Union home ministry through Governor in May 2017. It is yet to be approved by the Centre even after five years. There have been numerous communications between TS government and Centre on this Bill since 2017. But the union minister now says the Centre has not received the Bill."
He showed the communication between the Centre and the state on the Bill and said TRS MPs will move privilege motion against Tudu in the Lok Sabha.
He called upon people from the ST communities and students to hold protest rallies against the Centre on Wednesday for keeping enhanced ST reservations pending for five years.
