BJP-Jana Sena alliance remains best alternative to YSRC in 2024 polls: Veerraju

Vijayawada: State BJP chief Somu Veerraju has reiterated that his party’s alliance with Jana Sena would remain as the “best alternative” to the ruling YSR Congress in the 2024 elections.

He told the media here on Wednesday that “some parties” were looking for a break-up of BJP’s alliance with Jana Sena so that they could get a chance to ally with Pawan Kalyan and fight the next polls in a new alliance format. “That would not happen as our alliance would remain intact,” Veerraju has asserted.

With reference to BJP MLC P.V.N. Madhav’s remarks a day ago that the saffron party suffered badly in the MLC polls, especially from the graduates’ constituencies in north Andhra region due to a lack of support from the Jana Sena, Veerraju said that some parties were trying to “blow this out of proportion.”

Veerraju said that BJP had been targeting the ruling YSR Congress government on every issue and that they were planning to fight against the ruling party even at the ground level. “Our party is committed to the development of Amaravati as the capital city and for the setting up of AIIMS at Mangalagiri, by considering Amravati to be the capital city,” he said.

He turned critical on the YSR Congress government for reneging on its earlier promise to develop Amaravati as the capital and, instead, deciding to shift the capital to Visakhapatnam. “What kind of development is needed for Visakhapatnam as it is already a developed city.” Earlier, he took part in the Ugadi celebrations at the party office.
