Summon KTR in paper leak case, Revanth tells SIT

Update: 2023-03-23 19:05 GMT

HYDERABAD: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, who appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exams paper leak, demanded that the investigation team also summon minister K.T. Rama Rao, contending that he has all the information about the scam because the minister claimed only two people were behind the paper leak.

On Thursday morning, Revanth drove to the SIT office with his supporters. After leaving the SIT office in Himayatnagar, the TPCC president noted that, in addition to himself, state BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Rama Rao responded to the issue of paper leak, but the SIT, rather than doing its job of investigation, has been harassing the Opposition leaders by serving notices on them. “The notice was issued to harass us, and the government has involved its machinery. Summons should be issued to Rama Rao as well, only then the real culprits will be known. However, the officials are not ready for this. They are not even willing to accept a complaint against Rama Rao, therefore I had to change the word 'complaint' to 'information' when submitting the documents," he remarked.

According to Revanth, Rama Rao indicated that only two people were involved in the paper leak issue. Praveen Kumar and Rajasekhar Reddy, both TSPSC employees, were mentioned by the minister. Revanth stated that he had informed SIT officials that Rama Rao, Janardhan Reddy, and Anita Ramachandran should be investigated, and that the probe should be carried out without political pressure.

Further, the TPCC president maintained that Rama Rao was solely responsible for paper leaks and demanded that he be fired from the ministry, alleging that the state government was using coercive tactics to muzzle the Opposition's voice. He claimed that Rajasekhar Reddy, one of the main accused in the scam, and Rama Rao’s PA Tirupati allegedly played a key role in the paper leak. " Instead of investigating the scam, the BRS government harassed the Congress when it brought the issue to its attention. However, out of respect for the Constitution, we provided full details of the scam to officials," he remarked.

He stated that the Congress will continue to fight for the unemployed youth and will put pressure on KTR to resign as minister, dissolve the TSPSC Board, and have the TSPSC paper leak matter investigated by the CBI or a sitting judge. Further, Revanth Reddy also questioned why the details of the applicants and results were not uploaded on the official website since 2016. He questioned Telangana's intellectuals' silence over the issue, claiming that they became silent after the state was formed and were now silent while the future of lakhs of youth was at stake.

Earlier in the day, the police attempted to halt Revanth Reddy’s convoy as he left his home for the SIT office to submit evidence in response to the SIT notice. At Banjara Hills, the traffic police tried to stop all vehicles except Revanth's vehicle. However, when Revanth insisted on the vehicles being allowed, the cops relented. However, when police stopped other vehicles in his convoy at Liberty crossroads, the Congress leader and the party cadre walked to the SIT office.
