Congress final list changes, Sreerapad Renu replaces MR Seetharam
In the earlier list, the seat was allotted to Dr Devaraj Patil.
Bengaluru: Paving the way for the contesting of Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah from one more constituency- Badami- the All India Congress Committee has finally announced its final list of candidates for the Karnataka assembly elections.
In the earlier list, the seat was allotted to Dr Devaraj Patil. Facing embarrassment at the hands of the opposition BJP, the Congress also replaced Advocate H.S Chandramouli who once appeared for fraudster, Mehul Choksi.
Including Badami, the party changed candidates in five constituencies. In Jagalur, in place of A.L. Pushpa, H.P. Rajesh will be the party candidate. In Tiptur, B. Nanjamuri’s candidature was withdrawn and K. Shadakshari will be the party candidate. In Malleswaram, Kengal Hanumanthaiah’s grandson, Sreerapad Renu would contest the polls on the Congress ticket instead of minister M.R. Seetharam who refused to contest the assembly elections. In Padmanabha Nagar, the candidature of Mr Gurappa Naidu was withdrawn and M. Srinivas would be fielded against R. Ashok of the BJP. The names of the candidates announced for other seats are as follows: Kittur-D.B. Inamdar; Nagathana (SC):Vittal Katakdhond; Raichur: Syed Yasin; Shanti Nagar: N.A. Haris and Madikeri: K.P. Chandrakala.
