Vijayawada: TD supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu exuded confidence that the TD will form the government. Talking to party MLAs, MPs, important leaders and those who contested on the party ticket in the just-concluded polls, Mr Naidu said that in his lifetime of politics, he had never witnessed such disastrous polls as were conducted by the Election Commission. He held a meeting on Monday to take feedback from party candidates on how the polls were held and the party’s region-wise winning chances. He also predicted that the BJP will not get more than 160 seats and will fall short of the majority to form government. The TD along with other regional parties will play an important role at the Centre.

Mr Naidu pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been holding Cabinet meetings, and so can he.

Asserting that governance is a continuous process he said that his government will be in place till June 8 and till then, called upon party leaders to be on high alert. He regretted that the Centre-sponsored I-T and ED had raided candidates who fought on TD tickets in the polls and also on some party leaders who are not in the fray. He said that such raids did not take place in Telangana.

Talking about the surgical strikes, Mr Naidu said that the Centre could not prove the number of casualties while it claimed that around 350 terrorists were killed. Mr Naidu said that the Modi led government had destroyed autonomous institutions like the I-T, ED, CBI and EC.

He claimed that it was due to the fight put up by the TD that the EC had introduced VVPATs. He alleged that proper training was not given to officers who were on election duty in the state. He said that many had come in large numbers to their native places to cast their votes from other states. He also lamented that money was spent in a large scale in the polls.
