Young leader P Sreeramakrishnan to make it to the dais of Speaker

The CPM state committee meeting on Monday will take a final call on the appointment.

Malappuram: P Sreeramakrishnan, one of the dynamic youth leaders of the CPM, is all set to sit on the dais of the Speaker in the 14th state assembly to be sworn in on Wednesday. The CPM state committee meeting on Monday will take a final call on the appointment.

The former national president of Democratic Yoth Federation of India who has returned to the House for the third time in a row was elected from the Ponnani constituency in Malappuram. The youth leader entered the electoral politics as the successor of the former minister and senior CPM leader Paloli Muhammed Kutty who represented the Ponnani segment for long.

Ramakrishnan, who won the constituency by a majority of 4,101 votes in 2011 has doubled up the majority this time to 15,640 votes. 48-year-old Mr. Sreeramakrishnan, was serving as a high school teacher at RM Higher Secondary School in Melattur before he entered active politics. 

He will be the 21st speaker of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. He entered active politics as an SFI activist at the age of 12 and later became its state president. He was elevated to the rank of state president of the DYFI in 2005. Two years later, he was selected as its  national president.  He was the Vice Chairman of the Youth Wefare Board during the 2006-11 LDF government.

The CPM state committee member had also held the positions of Chairman of the Calicut Universty Students Union in 1988 he has also served as its Syndicate member. His wife Divya is also a teacher. The Couple has two children, Niranjana and Priyaranjana.
