With the latest notification from the Election Commission, the TD's strategy to win the bypoll by creating bogus voters has been foiled, a YSR Congress spokesperson said.

Chennai: In the wake of two AIADMK factions coming together, the ruling AIADMK will soon get back its two leaves party symbol frozen during the infamous R K Nagar bypoll.

It will just take a couple of days for the Election Commission of India to defreeze the two leaves symbol of AIADMK party if the complaint is withdrawn, said a senior election commission official.

However the petition challenging the appointment of V K Sasikala as party general secretary will take time as there are complications to it, the official said.

First, the two factions now have to inform EC about the merger and then withdraw the petitions. If the complainant gives a suitable explanation with supporting documents then the petition will deem to be unfit for detailed investigations.

Asked in case if there fresh complaints filed by the sulking TTV Dhinakaran led faction, the official explained that of the two petitions, the one related to party symbol will be closed upon submission of merger documents. The second petition related to party general secretary post would be under inquiry. However if there are new complaints from party members, that would be treated as a fresh complaint for further action.

Post the demise of AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa more than 25,000 pages of voluminous data has been submitted in terms of documents and affidavits before the election commission.

"We just want to reduce complications and address the complaints at the earliest. Once, when the aggrieved complainant wants to withdraw the petitions the EC's role will be to close the complaint," the official said.

When asked about the vacancy related to RK Nagar assembly constituency the official said the commission was busy with the president polls and now the focus is on conducting polls to Gujarat and Himachal. Cases related to RK Nagar cash for votes are still under investigation and it may take some more time to decide on RK Nagar by poll.
