Vijayawada: As elections are nearing for Nandyal bypolls, the ruling TD had kept Nara Lokesh in low profile. After the notification was released he is not directly involved in campaigning. Six ministers and 60 MLAs are completely in Nandyal while the others visit frequently. To protect political career of Lokesh, he is not involved in Nandyal bypoll campaigning in a major way.

According to sources, it is not going to be easy for the TD, whose ties with the some communities are in a bad shape.

Earlier, the TD said that it has decided not to give Lokesh a major role. Lokesh visited Nandyal only once on July 14. After the notification, Lokesh is nowhere in the picture.

A senior minister said that when the TD was sure of a cakewalk, they wanted Lokesh to be made incharge for the Nandyal bypolls.  Earlier, he was co-ordinating the poll scene from Amaravati. The TD wanted to give credit to Lokesh, if it emerges  as winner in the elections.
