BJP attempts to block KCR plans for early election in state
BJP leaders brought to the notice of the BJP high command that early polls will only benefit either the TRS or the Congress.
Hyderabad: State BJP leaders are attempting to block the TRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s plans to go for early Assembly polls in December along with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan.
They brought to the notice of the BJP high command that early polls will only benefit either the TRS or the Congress and the BJP gains nothing from this.
Moreover, they argued that Mr Rao was not “reliable” and even if the BJP helps Mr Rao for the early Assembly polls there is no guarantee that he will sail with the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections which will be held in April/May 2019 citing an example of how he ignored his promise to merge the TRS with the Congress in 2014 if the Congress granted statehood for Telangana.
State BJP leaders submitted a report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party’s national president Amit Shah on the pros and cons of early elections against orginial schedule. BJP state leaders cautioned that Mr Rao’s promises should not be believed blindly.
