Chennai: The AIADMK turned aggressive in attacking the DMK government for its alleged failure in abolishing Neet but trying to place the blame of the 21 deaths on the Leader of the Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami.

Targeting Minister of Health and Family Welfare M Subramanian who had said that Palaniswami should take the responsibility of the Neet-induced deaths, AIADMK Organisational Secretary D Jayakumar asked if Subramanian would take responsibility for all the deaths that happened in government hospitals.

In a statement on Tuesday, Jayakumar blamed Minister for Youth Affairs Udhayanidhi Stalin and Chief Minister M K Stalin for giving false promises to the people that Neet would be done away with in one stroke if the DMK came to power and said that the suicides were provoked by them.

Jayakumar also wrote to the DGP of the State complaining about the lack of police protection to the AIADMK’s State conference held at Madurai on Sunday. He said the police reneged in the undertaking they gave to the court on providing adequate security for the event.

Jayakumar also alleged that the police did not allow several vehicles that brought party members into the venue and there was no crowd control outside the venue.

Accusing the police of discriminating against the AIADMK as it was an opposition party, he said that security was denied to general council meetings of the party held on June 23 and July 11, too.
