TTD urged to blacklist official' cashew supplier
An internal enquiry by top officials of the Devasthanam revealed that the organization had been supplying poor-quality cashews
TIRUPATI: Rayalaseema Porata Samithi (RPS) convener and Congress leader P. Naveen Kumar demanded TTD authorities to blacklist Hindustan Muktha, a cashew-processing unit for allegedly supplying poor quality cashews to TTD.
In a statement here on Thursday, he alleged that Hindustan Muktha, which had secured a tender for supply of first quality cashews for Rs 650 per kg and second grade for Rs 534 per kg, has been supplying poor quality cashews.
“The Bangalore-based unit was the lowest bidder in the tender process. It has been supplying cashews to TTD for the past several months. However, an internal enquiry by top officials of the Devasthanam revealed that the organization had been supplying poor-quality cashews. When the officials took serious note of this and returned the stock seeking replacement with the best quality products, the supplier sent the same cashews in a new packing”, he alleged.
Naveen Kumar said “When the staff at the marketing godown opened the packets, they were shocked to see that the same poor quality cashews had been sent. The contractors in connivance with some staff members are indulging in the malpractice”, he added.
He urged TTD EO Dr K.S. Jawahar Reddy to order a probe into the irregularities in the supply of poor-quality cashews and other stocks in the marketing godown.
