APCC objects to KRMB office in Vizag
ANANTAPUR: APCC working president Tulasi Reddy on Friday objected to YSRC government’s proposal to shift the office of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam.
In a press release, Tulasi Reddy maintained that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had done injustice to the Rayalaseema region by writing a letter in this regard to Central Water Commission.
The APCC leader wondered about the move saying Vizag is almost 400 km away from Krishna river bed, whereas major projects over it like Srisailam, Pulichintala, Prakasam Barrage and Nagarjuna Sagar are far away from the port city.
He further observed that Telugu Ganga, Galeru-Nagari, Handri-Neeva, Velugonda and SRBC, along with Tungabhadra River, are part of KRMB. Thus, the government’s proposal to establish KRMB office in Visakhapatnam is inconsiderate.
Tulasi Reddy suggested that KRMB office be instead located near Srisailam or in Kurnool city.
The APCC leader regretted that Kadapa-Rayachoti-Madanapalle-Bengaluru broad gauge rail route works have got cancelled after state government failed to release matching grant for the railway line. The line would have been most useful for development of Rayalaseema region, he pointed out.
