HYDERABAD: After months of infighting and jockeying for positions in the Telangana BJP, the party appears to have discovered a newfound determination to take on the BRS in the Assembly elections with the party’s core team and state unit president G Kishan Reddy meeting in New Delhi on Saturday.

Sources in the BJP said Kishan Reddy met with the party leaders Sunil Bansal, Tarun Chugh, Prakash Javadekar, and Arvind Menon and discussed poll-related issues including campaign plans, issues to highlight against the rival parties, public meetings to be addressed by the top leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, and party president J.P. Nadda.

The sources said while the topics for discussion included narrowing down the choices of candidates; there could be some delays in the party making its final choices and announcing the candidates.

Among the issues discussed were how the BJP can overcome the trust deficit it currently faces following the beating it took in the public eye on account of infighting initiated by some leaders, and how to make everyone fall in line and work for the party's victory.

The leaders also talked about how effectively they could take the message to the people about Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s failure to keep his promises to the people.

Sources said that the campaign would also focus on specific issues that can expose the ineptness of the BRS government such as its failure to hold error-free recruitment exams, and failure to provide quality food to school students.
