Bengaluru: BBMP Opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy said ‘Brand Bengaluru’ image had taken a beating after Congress government came to power in the state and the citizens were burdened with only ‘bhagya’ schemes.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said the Congress was blowing its own trumpet, while in reality there was no real time development in the state.

“Despite our opposition, the government revised property taxes and claimed it would generate Rs 600 crore more. However, so far, it has only generated Rs 5 crore more. Reddy also alleged that from OFC cables it should have earned Rs 1,828 crore but only Rs 454 crore was generated.

Further, he condemned the government for announcing Rs 7,300 crore exclusive funds for Bengaluru development and Rs Rs 250 crore for newly added villages, but not releasing even a penny.
