HYDERABAD: Most of the villagers in Marriguda mandal are demanding development works and fulfillment of election promises being made by political parties in Munugode Assembly constituency.

The day the bypoll schedule was announced, the TRS government took up several development works, including road repairs and sanitisation in the constituency.

Interestingly, when some women were resting under a tree at Lenkalapally in Marriguda mandal, staff from the revenue department reached the spot armed with sprayers to contain the mosquito menace.

"This is the first time in five years that revenue staff made use of sprayers. We demand that the government do this regularly, irrespective of the poll outcome," said Yadamma, a resident of Lenkalapally. She urged officials to help her old-age pension as her earlier meetings with local leaders evoked no response from them.

Similarly, the stretch between Mall and Marriguda was repaired temporarily for a smooth travel.

"At least a km was damaged completely due to incessant rains. After the by-elections were announced, officials started repairing the road, albeit on a temporary basis. I regularly travel on the road to sell milk products. We request the eventual winner to look into the issue," Ch. Prasanna Kumar, a milk vendor from Marriguda, said.

Locals have demanded completion of the Sivannapally water storage project in the village, which was taken up several years ago. A similar water storage project at Gouraram village near Narasimha Swamy temple is progressing at a snail's pace, the villagers pointed out.
