Chennai: The BJP has alleged foul play in the counting of votes in Aravakurichi and co-ndemned the manner in which the party's candidate was “removed from the spot.”

Contending that the counting of votes in Aravakurichi Assembly constituency did not take place in a fair manner, BJP state president Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan claimed her party's agents were not allotted space inside the counting centre. "When our candidate (S. Prabhu) protested, he was arrested and taken away from the place. This is condemnable," she said.

She said she petitioned CEO Rajesh Lakhoni about the incident and sought recounting in Aravakurichi. "It was wrong to count the votes without the presence of our candidate. We have asked for recounting in our candidate's presence," Dr Tamilisai said.
