Winter fest kicks off in Mysuru

Mysuru: Having hosted the Dasara festival not so long ago, Mysuru is once again offering a host of events as part of its winter festival that kicked off here on Saturday. Locals and visitors to the city will get to enjoy a flower show, a bird festival, a cake festival, paramotoring, an art fest, an open film festival, a puppet show, dolls show, and music concerts over the next two weeks. Attractive floral models of the Lalit Mahal palace, Dasara elephants, Dasara wrestlers, a vintage car, peacocks, and more are on display at the flower show before the Mysuru Palace. Floral and vegetable models of an elephant, anaconda, deer, tiger, and zebra are added attractions.

Visitors get to enjoy the flower fest while listening to classical songs composed by the late maharaja playing in the background. Best of all, they get to leave with ayurvedic plants like alovera, betel leves, and basil which are distributed among visitors. Not far away, an eight- day paramotoring event began at University cricket ground on Saturday. The bird festival will be held at the Mysuru zoo on December 28 and 29 and a puppet show, on December 29 at the Vanaranga amphi theatre of Rangayana. The art fest and Chithra Santhe will be held on the Krishnaraja boulevard.
