NCP Launches Women-Centric Outreach Program Ahead of Lok Sabha Election
MUMBAI: Ahead of Lok Sabha election, Sharad Pawar-led NCP has planned an outreach programme targeting women voters. The NCP state women unit will take out a tour across the state in January 2024. Rohini Khadse, the party’s state women unit chief, will visit each district of the state and raise the issues of atrocities against women, unemployment and inflation. NCP working president Supriya Sule on Saturday alleged that the BJP is an anti-women party as the central government is doing injustice with the women representatives of Parliament.
Rohini Khadse, who is the daughter of veteran Maharashtra politician Eknath Khadse, on Saturday held a meeting with women party office bearers and MPs including Supriya Sule and Rajya Sabha member Fouzia Khan at the party office in Mumbai.
Speaking with the reporters, Ms Sule, Lok Sabha MP from Baramati, said that they discussed the issues of atrocities against women, suspension of MPs in a meeting with the party’s women unit chief. “Rohini will be on a statewide tour from January. She will visit every district and take stock of the issues pertaining to inflation, unemployment and atrocities against the women,” she said.
As election of Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly will be held next year, Rohini will understand the issues of women through the statewide tour; Sule said adding that her party will ensure that these issues would be resolved.
Hitting at the Eknath Shinde government, Ms Sule said that the situation of law and order has deteriorated and the crimes against women have increased.
According to the party sources, the party is trying to nurture women leadership in the state. "This will strengthen Sule’s hold on the party," a party insider said.
