Deepa Jayakumar, niece of late J Jayalalithaa, files RK Nagar nomination

Chennai: Deepa Jayakumar, niece of late chief minister J Jayalalithaa, on Thursday filed her nomination to contest the April 12 by-election to Dr Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency.

Ms Deepa, the founder of the MGR Amma Deepa Peravai, filed her nomination papers before Returning Officer Pravin Nair. She paid floral tributes at the memorial of her late aunt before filing her nomination papers.

“I have come here to file my nominations. The people of R K Nagar constituency will convey to the world who is the true heir of Amma (Jayalalithaa). Definitely, a victory in this poll will create a history in my (political) life,” she said.
