Congress to protest in AP over Rahul dismissal today
VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gidugu Rudra Raju said all is set for organising the “Jai Bharath Satyagraha” at the Gymkhana Grounds in Vijayawada on Monday.
AICC secretary Ranjitha Ranjan and AP affairs in-charge Meiyappan will be among those attending the satyagraha and public meeting being organised to protest against the cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s membership of Lok Sabha and the threat democracy and secularism are currently facing in India.
Rudra Raju said similar protests are being organised on the day at mandal and district levels. He maintained that the meeting at Gymkhana Grounds on Monday will be the first and biggest public meeting of the Congress party. Former central and state ministers, besides state and district leaders will attend the public meeting.
The APCC president said the BJP-led government at the centre has cancelled Rahul Gandhi’s membership of Parliament as he had been questioning financial irregularities committed by Adani, who is being backed by the BJP. Rudra Raju pointed out that the Modi administration even violated Parliament’s acts by removing the speeches of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge from the records of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
He regretted that AP’s regional parties – ruling YSRCP and opposition Telugu Desam and Jana Sena, have not responded to Rahul Gandhi’s membership of parliament being cancelled.
The APCC president said people are observing what is happening in the country as well as the state. They would teach a lesson to those who are not responding against anti-people’s policies, he maintained.
