Kadakampally Surendran all set to hone organising skills in cabinet
Kadakampally had almost a decade long innings as CPM district secretary, a post he quit recently to enter electoral fray.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kadakampally Surendran who has been the face of the CPM in the district over the past several decades, is becoming a minister for the first time. This is the second time he has become an MLA, after his début in State Assembly in 1996. The 63-year-old leader is currently state committee member of the party. Kadakampally had almost a decade long innings as CPM district secretary, a post he quit recently to enter electoral fray.
Prior to his tenure as district secretary, he has held the post of all India president of DYFI, vice president CITU district committee and headed several trade unions. Known as a good organiser in the party circles, he has led the party from the front Thiruvananthapuram district.
The CPM leader led many political agitations in the state capital during this period. Born to C.K. Krishnan Kutty and Bhagavathi Kutty at Karikkakom, Mr. Surendran did his studies at St Joseph High School, Chempazhanthy SN College and University College. His wife Sulekha is a teacher at Abraham Memorial Higher Secondary School and the couple has two sons, Arun and Anoop
