It's cold-blooded murder, CM should resign: PMK
''The police had even shot at the spectators,†Mr. Thirumavalavan said and demanded the CM to visit the affected families.
Chennai: PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss who came down heavily on the state government and police over the killing of over 11 persons during Tuesday's anti-Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi, said Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and other senior government officials should have visited the affected people and consoled them.
Demanding the resignation of the CM in the wake of violent incidents in the coastal town, he said instead of engaging the protesters in talks, the government stationed police in the fishing villages to threaten people. This, he contended, had resulted in violence in Anna Nagar killing a person on Wednesday.
Describing the incidents in Thoothukudi as a “cold-blooded murder” by police, PMK leader Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss said, “what happened in Thoothukudi is a cold-blooded murder by police. They should be booked for murder and SP, Collector, DGP and Chief Secretary should be suspended. Taking moral responsibility, CM Edappadi K Palaniswami should resign,” Dr. Anbumani said.
Terming the police firing on the “peaceful protesters” as “savage attack” VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan alleged that the intention of the police was not to quell the rioters but was something else.
The had mounted a planned attack on the people. The police had even shot at the spectators,” Mr. Thirumavalavan said and demanded the CM to visit the affected families.
