I will resign: A H Vishwanath

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday after the results, Mr Vishwanath declined to blame the coalition partner Congress for the election debacle.

Bengaluru: Owing moral responsibility for the party's dismal performance in the Lok Sabha polls with party national president Mr H.D. Deve Gowda and son of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Nikhil Kumaraswamy suffering humiliating defeats, JD(S) State President  A.H. Vishwanath has offered to resign from his post.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday after the results, Mr Vishwanath declined to blame the coalition partner Congress for the election debacle. ``Though seat sharing happened between the coalition partners, the election was fought by the Congress and JD(S) on their own. Someone has to take  responsibility for the loss and I am prepared for this,'' he said.

``When my health failed, I had offered to quit the post. However, Mr Gowda asked me to continue till the parliamentary electionsr. Now that the elections are done with, I am ready to resign,'' he said.
