Bengaluru Cops told to arrest fugitive Marigowda: Dr G Parameshwar

Mysuru: Congress leader Marigowda, who has been evading arrest since publicly abusing Mysuru Deputy Commissioner C Shikha, will be suspended from the party, according to Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar. “We have directed police to arrest him,” he told reporters here.
While accusing the opposition of politicising the recent suicides of police officers, the minister announced the government intended to help them tackle workplace stress. ‘Policemen will be in trained in yoga to deal with stress and also provided counselling to help resolve their problems, if any,” he assured.
The government also now intends to provide all policemen housing. “So far only 60 per cent of policemen have been given houses. Now we will see to it that all of them are provided with this facility,” he promised .
CM Siddaramaiah, who spoke to reporters, did not confirm whether Mysuru DC Shikha was being transferred as rumoured. “It is an administrative matter. Any officer, who has served beyond two years in the same place, can be transferred,” was all he said. Asked about the delay in arresting Mr Marigowda, he said he had no objection to his arrest. “ Marigowda may be with our party but he is not above the law,” he maintained.
The CM, who inaugurated police quarters in Jyothinagar in Mysuru , recalled that the state government had formed a committee led by senior police officer, Raghavendra Auradkar to look into the problems of the police in the state. ‘Once we get the report, all their problems will be resolved,” he said.
