Nirmala Sitharaman has no faith in God: Stalin

Chennai: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman would have definitely praised the DMK government at least for the massive retrieval of temple lands and properties worth Rs 5500 crore during the present tenure but was instead coming out with false allegations only because she was not at all god-fearing, Chief Minister M K Stalin said on Friday.

Masquerading as a devout person, the Union Finance Minister was enacting a farce that was aimed at toppling the Dravidian Model government, Stalin said referring to her charge that the DMK government was looting temples in the State.

He did not want to elaborate on his government’s work in protecting temples since the HR & CE Minister P K Sekarbabu had already given his detailed reply to Nirmala Sitharaman, Stalin said.

He spoke about the campaigns being carried out against the DMK government on social media and the conspiracy being hatched to bring down the government and made a mention of a police officer who had made a comment on his official WhatsApp channel and would soon face the music for it as a complaint had already been lodged.

To put an end to all the conspiracies and false campaigns, aimed at defeating the Dravidian Model government that was gaining more popularity, the people should make use of the elections, Stalin said speaking at a wedding of the son of a DMK functionary Thirumangalam Gopal.

Stalin said that he would not have taken the charge of temple loot seriously if it had been made by somebody else like BJP State President K Annamalai, who had the habit of confusing the people. Because it was the Union Finance Minister he had to clarify on it though Sekarbabu had elaborately gone into the issue with absolute clarity, he said.

The conspirators were particularly peeved by the growth of the DMK's Youth Wing, which was all set to organise its next conference in Salem next month and was hence spreading falsehood, he said.

Recalling the close association that the groom’s father Gopal had with him and also M Karunanidhi by being in charge of security, he said the earlier weddings in the family were solemnized by Karunanidhi. Now it was an opportunity for him to do the honours, he said.
