Vijayawada: The APSRTC Joint Action Committee (JAC) members met transport minister K. Atchannaidu and gave a representation pertaining to their demands and informed him about the details of the strike.

Mr Atchannaidu told them to withdraw the decision of the indefinite strike and told them that the state government and the APSRTC were working for the welfare of the employees.

He further said that the employees and union leaders’ decisions should be based on the financial condition of the RTC.

He said as the workers were rendering dedicated service and there was some development in the financial position of the RTC which was moving from loss to profit, they should reconsider their decision. He stated that occupancy had increased from 67 per cent to 80 per cent and could minimize the losses, however, RTC was still running in losses, said the minister.

He further said that, at this stage, the workers going on strike was not a wise decision and would not benefit both the workers and the RTC.

The minister informed that he would talk to the RTC officials about the possibilities of a maximum fitment to prevent the strike.
