ACB court wants data on stays Chandrababu Naidu secured
Mr Naidu approached the AP High Court and obtained a stay.
Hyderabad: The ACB court here on Friday sought details of the stay orders obtained by former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu against the application filed by Ms Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi, who had filed an application in 2005 urging the ACB court to direct the investigation agency to probe his assets.
Alleging that Mr Naidu had obtained ill-gotten money when he was Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, Ms Parvathi had filed the application seeking cases to be filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Mr Naidu approached the AP High Court and obtained a stay. This was vacated after a Supreme Court ruling lifting long-standing stay orders across the country and setting a limit of six months.
The Hyderabad ACB court reopened the case last month. Ms Parvathi had been summoned to appear before the court in connection with her petition. As the case details in the High Court website showed that the stay order was still in existence, the ACB court sought to know the details from physical records.
Mr Koka Srinivas Kumar, counsel for Ms Parvathi, on Friday requested the court to direct the ACB to probe the alleged disproportionate assets of Mr Naidu by registering a case on the application of his client. The court adjourned the case to February 7.
