AP to be role model for energy efficiency: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu

In a teleconference with officials, the Chief Minister said energy efficiency was one of the top priorities of the government.

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the tireless efforts of the state government to make Andhra Pradesh No. 1 in energy efficiency were receiving appreciation even from other countries.

The Chief Minister said that Germany based GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Intern-ationale Zusammena-rbeit), German Development Agency had invited the Andhra Pradesh government to participate in a one-week-long knowledge exchange programme on “Energy Efficiency Building Transfor-mation Roadmap 2030- Policy and Enforcement Framework” in Germany from February 25 to March 1. The state government had nominated CEO, AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) to attend the programme. AP would showcase its best energy efficiency practices, he said.

In a teleconference with officials, the Chief Minister said energy efficiency was one of the top priorities of the government. “We have to search, examine and adopt advanced technologies coming up worldwide on the energy efficiency front,” he said.

In fact, AP had already become the role model at the national level for energy efficiency activities in India, he said. The World Bank had already ranked AP No. 1 in energy efficiency. The state had also emerged as the “Front Runner” in energy efficiency preparedness index released by Niti Aayog and Bureau of Energy Efficiency.

East Godavari was the first district in the country with complete LED streetlighting and AP was the only state which completed LED streetlighting programme in almost all districts, he said.

Energy minister, K. Kala Venkata Rao congratulated Ajay Jain, principal secretary, Energy, I &I, CRDA for getting this universal recognition.
