SC elections to be held on April 30

HYDERABAD: The notification for the April 30 election of civilian members to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) was released at the board meeting here on Friday, which gave voters time till March 4 to register themselves.

The notification reserved Wards 2, 5 and 6 for women, Ward 8 for a Scheduled Caste community candidate and Wards 1,3,4, 7. Voters can apply for inclusion of their names until 5 pm of March 4, after which a notice inviting objections will be issued on March 6 and the objections will be received on March 10. Hearing will be held from March 14 to March 16, 10.30 am to 2.30 pm.

With regard to the polls, nomination papers can be filed from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm on March 28 and March 29. Scrutiny will be done on April 1 followed by a chance for withdrawal of candidatures. The list of contesting candidates will be done on April 6. Allotment of symbols, other than symbols reserved for political parties, will be done from 10.30 am of April 10.

Elections will be held from 8 am to 5 pm on April 30. The board has placed a requested for electronic voting machines.
