Decision on Kollam not final, says P K Gurudasan
Gurudasan gave enough hints that he was prepared for a contest if party decided so.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Amid reports that CPM is planning to field actor Mukesh in Kollam constituency, veteran marxist leader and sitting MLA P K Gurudasan has said that the final decision on candidate is yet to be taken.
The former minister told a regional news channel that he did not believe that party had sidelined him. While refusing to comment on the deliberations taking place in district comittee, state committee and state secretariat about the issue of candidature, he made it clear that the decision to contest is not an individual one. But Gurudasan neither confirmed nor denied media reports that he was being kept out of electoral fray this time.
The CPM central committee member, however, said the question whether he would contest or not will be known only after the completion of discussions at various levels. While emphasising that the decision to contest in forthcoming poll is not taken by individuals but the party, Gurudasan gave enough hints that he was prepared for a contest if party decided so.
While CPM district leadership is keen on Mukesh, with Gurudasan making it clear that the process of candidate selection was still in progress, the last word on Kollam candidate is yet to be spoken.
