Cong leaders protest against disqualification of Rahul
Hyderabad: Scores of Congress leaders representing frontal organisations like Youth Congress and Mahila Congress, who held demonstrations in front of the BJP state office, were detained here on Saturday. They were protesting against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha member.
City Youth Congress leaders who took out a bike rally in protest against the Centre, later tried to lay siege to the BJP office. They were prevented from entering the lane opposite Exhibition Ground where the BJP office is located.
“We took out a rally towards the BJP office and tried to gherao it in protest against Modi’s fascist government for killing democracy with the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Parliament,” said city president, Motha Rohit.
During the day Mahila Congress members, led by M. Sunitha Rao, holding anti-Modi placards, also held a demonstration in front of the BJP office. Amid allegations of manhandling, women police detained them. “Police manhandled us in order to protect BJP dictator Modi,” alleged Sunitha Rao.
At other places Youth Congress leaders took out rallies and burnt an effigy of Modi. At Musheerabad crossroads the protest was rally led by Youth Congress leader, Anil Kumar Yadav. In Mahbubnagar DCC president G. Madhusudhan led the massive protest rally in the presence of NSUI president, Balmoor Venkat.
