Kakinada: Jana Sena chief and film star Pawan Kalyan has stressed the need for a provision in law to recall legislators who defect from their party to another party.

During his Varahi Yatra public meeting in Malkipuram on Sunday night, Pawan Kalyan said such defections amounted to a cheating of the people. He was referring to Razole MLA Rapaka Varaprasad who defected to the YSRC after getting elected to the assembly on a Jana Sena symbol.

“When I lost the elections in both constituencies in 2019, I was deeply upset. But, there was some consolation as the Jana Sena candidate won from Razole constituency and Jana Sena cadres worked very hard for his victory. If such legislators, elected from any party, betrayed the people and switched their loyalty to another party, there should be a law to disqualify them.”

Pawan Kalyan also castigated TTD chairman YV Subba Reddy for the alleged fraud or misuse of funds of the Sri Vani Trust. The funds of temples should be spent for the salaries and welfare of the two lakh Archaka families of the temples.”

He said TTD released a white paper on Sri Vani Trust, but the Jana Sena would take stringent action against the fraudsters of Sri Vani Trust vis-à-vis misuse of TTD funds, based on the report of a high-level committee that would be appointed by the government after the Jana Sena assumed power.

PK also said he would not allow the ruling YSRC to win even a single seat in the erstwhile East and West Godavari districts. “The party would expose the misdeeds of Jagan Reddy. It is not enough if the CM presses the button to benefit 40 per cent of the people in the name of welfare, he should take the responsibility of doing justice to the remaining 60 per cent of the people,” the JS leader said.

He demanded that the state government develop a bypass road in Malkipuram within 15 days. "If not, the Jana Sena would develop the road.”

PK said infrastructure facilities should be developed in the state to attract investors who can also provide employment to the youths. The government did not release funds for development of the Sakhinetipalli-Narsapuram bridge, the bypass road and the Kotipalli-Narsapur Railway Line, he said.

The JS leader said if his party comes to power, a tourism circuit would be developed from Annavaram to Antarvedi, and this would help provide more employment opportunities to the local youth.

He said that a skill-tech training centre would be developed to provide jobs in natural gas and oil companies in Konaseema. “Due to the aqua culture and oil drilling operations in Konaseema, the governments are earning more money, but the people are suffering from its pollution,” he said.

The JS leader also said he can provide employment opportunities to the youths with support from the central government as he has access to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and central ministers.

Pawan Kalyan said that when he was going to Dindi Resorts, four goons tried to attack him with stones. His bodyguards noticed this and prevented them, after which the police intervened and caught them, he said.

Pawan Kalyan said he was not afraid of such threats from the ruling YSRC.

He said, “When farmers are cultivating paddy and other crops with a lot of hardships, Kakinada MLA Dwarampudi Chandrasekhara and his family are looting the farmers’ money at the rate of Rs 100 from each bag of paddy.

Pawan Kalyan said that Jana Sena would bring changes in Aarogyasri. He said that the medical treatment would be given to the people through health insurance companies  and the government would pay the premium to the companies. He said that every family can get medical treatment worth Rs.25 lakh free of cost.
