Medical seats taken away by other states: MK Stalin
Stalin said the Parliament standing committee had made it clear that Neet should be held leaving the states which opposed it.
Chennai: Asserting that students from other states had taken away the places of Tamil Nadu students due to Neet, DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Thursday the removal of the state government which was bowing to the Centre would put an end to such problems.
He said only five students in the top 20 belong to Tamil Nadu and the other places had been taken away by students of other states. Taking part in a protest demonstration along with leaders of Congress, Left parties and VCK in the city against Neet, Stalin said the Parliament standing committee had made it clear that Neet should be held leaving the states which opposed it.
Citing the questions raised by Madras high court judge Kirubakaran that how could same question paper be given to students when there is a difference between the curriculum of CBSE and state board of education, he said cancellation of entrance examinations by the DMK government had ensured social justice.
Asserting that the state government would fall, he also assured that the DMK would not capture power through backdoor. Recalling that Union minister Nirmala Seetharaman had promised to give one-year exemption for Tamil Nadu from Neet, he said the promise was not fulfilled.
Congress Assembly party leader K.R. Ramasamy, CPM state secretary G.Ramakrishnan, CPI senior leader R. Nallakannu, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol. Thirumavalavan and DMK Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi took part in the protest demonstration. The leaders and cadre raised slogans against the Central and state governments on imposing Neet in Tamil Nadu.
After the Left parties quit the DMK alliance before the 2009 Parliament elections, they are sharing the platform with Stalin after about eight years. Although, the parties had joined hands in protests for Cauvery, the leaders did not share the same dais.
