Dr Tamilisai Soundararaja nominates PM for Nobel Peace Prize

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has said she has nominated the PM for the Nobel Peace Prize and appealed to the people to join her.

Chennai: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) — Ayushman Bharat — health insurance scheme, BJP State president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has said she has nominated the PM for the Nobel Peace Prize and appealed to the people to join her.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2019 for launching the world’s largest healthcare scheme — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana — Ayushman Bharat by Dr Tamilisai Soundararjan, and by (her husband) Prof Dr P. Soundarajan, Head of Department & Senior Cons-ultant in Nephrology Saveetha Medical College & Hospital, Saveetha University,” a release from her office stated. 

“This path breaking initiative of visionary Prime Minister Modiji will transform the lives of millions of people especially the underprivileged and vulnerable,” Dr. Tamilisai said and added that the leading cause of poverty in India is healthcare expenditure for Tertiary & Secondary Care.

 She urged the healthcare institutions and medical practitioners to fully utilise the scheme, which will revolutionise the healthcare delivery system in the country. Dr Tamilisai also appealed to healthcare providers in India and abroad to join her in nominating the ‘visionary’ Prime Minister for the prestigious prize.

The last date for nomination is January 31, 2019. University professors and MPs among others can also nominate the PM. “As a Dr I have seen sufferings of poor people at times of medical emergencies for want of money to get quality medical care. I have witnessed how Govt insurance schemes helped patients during my higher education at Canada. Now our PMs #AyushmanBharat yojana a boon to poor @PMOIndia,” she tweeted.
