Many in running for TRS Mahbubabad chief post
Elected party representatives prop up candidates in fight for one-upmanship
Warangal: The race for the TRS Mahbubabad district president post has turned intense as many local public representatives are competing with one another to convince the party high command to appoint their nominee to the top post.
Interestingly, a sizable number of candidates are from the Reddy community. They include those being propped up by minister Satyavathi Rathod, MP Maloth Kavitha, and MLAs Shankar Naik and Redya Naiky.
Satyavathi has already succeeded in securing key posts in the districts, including that of the ZP chairperson, to her followers. She is believed to be pitching for Nukala Sriranga Reddy, a staunch TRS loyalist since inception. His being non-controversial and having been active in all party activities could work in his favour.
Dornakal MLA Redya Naik, who is the most experienced politician in the district, is having a running feud with Satyavathi. He is unhappy that key posts have gone to her followers. It is learnt that Naik is lobbying hard for the candidature of Kudithi Mahender Reddy as the party’s next district chief.
Philanthropist and a close aide of MP Maloth Kavitha, K.S.N. Reddy is believed to have garnered the MP’s support. Although Reddy has said that he is not keen on any post, he said that if given a chance by the high command, he would not let the party down.
Parakala Srinivas Reddy, a key party worker in Mahbubabad, has been awaiting recognition for a long time. He enjoys the patronage of legislator Shankar Naik.
Understanding that the president’s post was important in bringing all warring factions on a single platform, the party high command is now tasked to put in a lot of thought to identify the right choice.
