TD Legislature Party elders may skip party meet
At present, three MLAs remain in the TD Legislature Party Mr Revanth Reddy himself, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and R. Krishnaiah.
Hyderabad: In another twist to the Revanth Reddy episode, TS TD functionaries, including its president L. Ramana are considering boycotting the TD Legislature Party meeting convened by the party’s working president on October 26 to discuss the strategy to be adopted for the coming Assembly session.
At present, three MLAs remain in the TD Legislature Party Mr Revanth Reddy himself, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and R. Krishnaiah.
Normally, TD senior leaders, not necessarily legislators, attend the Legislature Party meetings and provide guidance on the party strategy in the Assembly.
However, in view of Mr Revanth Reddy’s reported decision to join the Congress, and the subsequent TS TD leadership’s recommendation to the party’s national president N. Chandrababu Naidu to take an appropriate decision on Mr Revanth Reddy, the TS TD leaders have ‘almost’ decided not to attend the TDLP meeting on October 26 and will also direct the other two MLAs not to do so either.
In an interaction with the media on Tuesday, TS TD president L. Ramana said, “We will take a decision whether to attend or not by tomorrow.”
Referring to the Revanth Reddy episode, Mr Ramana said TD leadership is yet to get clarification from him on the reports of his joining the Congress.
“We are not satisfied with the way Revanth Reddy tried to give clarity in Kodangal on Sunday; the matter has been referred to the party’s national president for his decision,” Mr Ramana said.
Replying to series of questions on taking disciplinary action against Mr Revanth Reddy, he said that no one was above the party and whoever violated the party’s discipline, will be shown the door.
Mr Ramana also clarified that no TD leader was supposed to meet leaders of other parties without taking permission from the party’s national president.
