Hyderabad: Three more TRS candidates for MLC polls under local bodies quota were elected unanimously after independents withdrew their nominations on Thursday.
Pochampally Srinivas Reddy from Warangal district and Kasireddy Narayan Reddy and K Damodar Reddy from Mahabubnagar district were the newly elected. The EC expected to formally declare the result on Friday.
With this, the ruling TRS has bagged six MLC seats unanimously out of the 12 MLC seats going to polls on December 10.
On Wednesday, three TRS nominees -- Kalvakuntla Kavitha from Nizamabad seat and Patnam Mahender Reddy, Shambipur Raju from Rangareddy district --were elected unanimously after independents withdrew their nominations.
The TRS leadership is making efforts to make the election of a few more of its candidates unanimous on Friday, the deadline for withdrawal of nominations.
The TRS has fielded candidates for all the 12 seats, while the Congress fielded two and the BJP none. TRS is facing Congress candidates in two seats in Khammam and Medak districts. In the remaining four seats, it is facing independents.
The TRS leadership is attempting to convince independents to withdraw their nominations for one seat in Adilabad, 2 seats in Karimnagar and one in Nalgonda so as to enable the party bag 10 seats unanimously -- barring Medak and Khammam where Congress candidates are in the fray.
