BRS, Congress Fights is Just Drama: PM Modi

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the BRS and the Congress, declaring that their “public fights” during the ongoing Telangana Assembly election campaign were nothing more than “dramabaazi”.

Stressing that the Congress and the BRS were cut from the same cloth, and were together, Modi said, “If the people blunder into giving the Congress a chance, then you will get a carbon copy of the BRS government.”

Modi, speaking at public meetings in Kamareddy — where Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy are the principal contestants —and Maheshwaram constituencies, pummelled the BRS and the Congress on the theme of their togetherness. The Prime Minister said he was confident that the people had seen through the nexus between the two parties and were ready to “reject the BRS’ ‘Nizamshahi’, and Congress’ ‘Sultanshahi’ attitudes.”

Modi will stay overnight in Hyderabad and campaign in Telangana for two more days for the November 30 elections. He is also scheduled travel to Tirumala on Sunday for darshan of Lord Venkateswara in the temple down and return here on Monday.

Modi said, “The people of Telangana are exasperated with nine years of BRS rule and want to be freed of its control, and also that of the Congress which ruled this region for decades but neglected it.”

The two parties, he said, had changed their names with the TRS becoming the BRS and the UPA becoming the I.N.D.I. Alliance. “People understand these tricks and changing names doesn’t erase their histories of vote bank politics, corruption,” he said.

Modi said that the BRS-Congress ties began with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao starting his political career in the Congress and being made a Union Cabinet minister by that party. “After Telangana was formed, KCR met Congress leaders. He supported the Congress in the President and Vice-President elections, and during the no-confidence motion against our government,” he said.

“More proof that the BRS and the Congress are two sides of the same coin is in Maheshwaram. You elected a Congress candidate who joined the BRS and became a minister. This means, every vote to Congress will be a vote for the BRS,” Modi said.

It was only the BJP, with the 'Modi guarantee' that could take Telangana and its people to the heights they aspired to, and deserved. “Elect BJP in the coming elections, bring a double-engine sarkar and I guarantee that this will happen. To remove the BRS from power and to make your dreams come true, your most trusted partner is the BJP,” he declared.

“The BRS and Congress chiefs are contesting from Kamareddy which shows how much they fear losing from their own constituencies. Kamareddy will teach both parties a lesson that their ‘parivarvaad, brashtachar,’ and ‘thushtikaran’ (dynasty, corruption and appeasement) politics will be rejected,” Modi said.

He also said the BJP will keep its promise of making a leader from the Backward Classes communities the Chief Minister, unlike Rao who said that he would make a Dalit will be made the CM but grabbed the post.

“The BJP stands for social justice and we have speeded up steps to undo the decades of injustice to the Madiga community. Yesterday in Delhi I held a meeting with officials to speed up the process of categorisation,” said Modi who during his previous visit had announced the formation of a committee to study the sub-categorisation of reservations for the Scheduled Castes communities.

In Telangana, the BJP government at the Centre through PM Kisan Samman Nidhi disbursed Rs 3.25 lakh crores to 40 lakh farmers of whom 1.5 lakh are in Kamareddy district alone, Modi said.
