DMK chief M. Karunanidhi reacted by issuing a legal notice to Vaiko. His lawyer demanded that Vaiko must withdraw his false accusation and express regret over the defamatory statement. The notice warned that Karunanidhi would be constrained to initiate appropriate civil and criminal action against Vaiko if he failed comply and made amends.
The DMK chief, in his notice, pointed out that Vijayakanth’s wife Premalatha had denied that there was any formal talk or alliance discussion her party and the DMK. “Vaiko’s intention is only to defame me and bring damage to my party during Assembly elections.”
