Chennai/Madurai: Dropping a  political detonator in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Assembly elections, the MDMK leader Vaiko alleged that the DMK had offered Rs 500 crore and 80 seats  to the DMDK leader Vijayakanth to join the DMK-led alliance, but Captain turned it down. However, Premalatha Vijayakanth refuted Vaiko’s charge, while a furious DMK chief M.Karunanidhi slapped a legal notice on Vaiko for his 'utter lie'.

There were no formal talks between DMDK and DMK,” Premalatha asserted, reacting to Vaiko’s allegation. “Don’t make it a big issue and create confusion in the Vijaykant-led People’s Welfare Alliance,” she pleaded, when journalists sought her reaction to Vaiko’s charge, which has now kicked off a political storm and created confusion barely two days after Vijaykanth jumped on to the PWA bandwagon and even took up its reins.
