Congress Ex MP V Hanumantha Rao who abused cop stirs up more drama
After the inspector filed a complaint, a case was registered against the former MP.
Hyderabad: Former Congress minister V. Hanumantha Rao, who is in trouble for abusing a police inspector earlier this week, created more drama on Saturday near the Rajiv Gandhi statue at Somajiguda by launching a protest against the case booked against him by city police.
Officials from the Panjagutta police took him and aides into preventive custody saying their gathering was illegal. Officials said an investigation against Rao is currently on and a notice is being served against him as part of the probe.
“He, along with 13 other local party leaders, were taken into preventive custody during their protest. They were later released,” Panjagutta police Station inspector S. Mohan Kumar said.
On Thursday, a video had surfaced showing Rao screaming at a police official, now identified as P. Sudhakar, an inspector, who was on duty at the media point near the Assembly.
The video clearly showed the inspector trying his best to stop Rao from addressing the press at the media point saying he had instructions from his seniors not to allow any former MLA, MLC or MPs near the media point. But Rao continued to scream at the inspector. “This is not a dictatorship. Tell your CM that I can go and sit in front of his house,” the footage caught Rao as saying.
After the inspector filed a complaint, a case was registered against the former MP.
On Saturday, Rao and his aides gathered at Somajiguda to protest what they claimed was official “high-handedness”. They alleged that the TRS was deliberately targeting them.
