Year's first session of Pondicherry assembly starts on Monday
Though Ms Bedi had shown interest in addressing the Assembly last time also, the government went ahead with the procedures without her address.
Puducherry: The first 2018 session of Puducherry Assembly will begin here on Monday with the customary address by Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi.
The session is likely to be stormy as opposition parties including AIADMK and All India NR Congress several issues related to the administration, including development issues, seeking vote-on-account instead of a full budget, constitution of the Cauvery Management Board, and the latest verdict on nominated MLAs issue.
Unlike the last session, the house will commence with the address by Lt Governor at 9.30 am on Monday, a sign of improving relationship between the Lt Governor and the government.
Though Ms Bedi had shown interest in addressing the Assembly last time also, the government went ahead with the procedures without her address.
Immediately after the address, Chief minister V Narayanasamy, holding finance portfolio will present a vote on account to get financial sanction for the government expenses for the first three months of the next financial year.
Opposition parties including AIADMK had already registered their protest against presenting vote on account instead of a full budget, the discussion on which expected to make the session lively.
As the session to begin on Monday all eyes are on speaker V Vaithilingam as he is supposed to take a decision on whether to permit the nominated members into the house on Monday and to provide facilities to the members in the House, including rooms, identity cards and seating arrangements in the Assembly.
