Ex-minister C H Vijayshankar files nomination
There has not been a single candidate from backward classes community among 28 candidates announced by the BJP.
Mysuru: Former CM Siddaramaiah’s clansman, former minister and two term MP from Mysuru Kodagu constituency, Mr C H Vijay Shankar, was accompanied by KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao, the Kuruba strongman, former minister Dr H C Maha devappa and other leaders as led a massive rally ahead of submitting nomination papers in Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency on Monday.
Mr Vijayshankar told the media: “The BJP has no base in Old Mysuru region. Here, the Congress and JD (S) were traditional rivals, but now with Congress and JD (S) uniting, my victory is confirmed.
There has not been a single candidate from backward classes community among 28 candidates announced by the BJP. The BJP adopts anti minorities and backward classes communities policy. People are observing this, and will teach a lesson to those who have ignored the backward classes community.
I have experienced the same in 2014 elections and though I am from backward class community I was sent to Hassan and it was a systematic plan to finish me. So realising it, I am back to my nest which is Mysuru.”
Addressing party workers at his residence in Mysuru, he said to accept the challenge and work for the victory of candidate of Mysuru Kodagu constituency. “We need not lie like BJP leaders. We should boldly highlight projects taken up during our previous Congress government and the present coalition government and seek votes.”
