KOZHIKODE: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has challenged Opposition Leader V.S. Achuthanandan to produce a single FIR  in the  31 cases of corruption that VS  had listed against him.  If VS does not withdraw his allegation within two days,  he would take legal action, Mr Chandy told reporters here on Monday.

“VS had listed 136 cases of corruption against me and the UDF ministers. The Opposition is resorting to  baseless allegations. I will approach the election commission also if  VS does not withdraw his remarks,” Mr  Chandy said.

He criticised  CPM leader P. Jayarajan for saying  that the CPM would repay what it  got with interest. “That is Jayarajan’s style. Our style is to reduce the interest of debt-ridden poor when they approach the government,” he said.

The  UDF government had no role in providing land to Vijay Mallya in Palakkad. The land was allotted by the LDF ministry in 1971, he said. Mr  Pinarayi Vijayan was trying to find RSS tie-up in the UDF targeting minority votes. “That would backfire on them. It was Pinarayi himself who shared dais with the then Jan Sangh leaders and K.G. Marar in 1977,” he said.
