LDF top guns file nomination
Leader of Opposition V.S. Achuthanandan and PB member Pinarayi Vijayan file nominations.
Palakkad/ Kannur: CPM veteran V.S. Achuthanandan contesting from Malampuzha submitted his nomination papers before the presiding officer and joint director of co-operative (audit), P.M. Sasibushan, at Palakkad civil station on Monday.
VS told reporters that the LDF would win the polls in the state with a comfortable margin. About the ongoing war of words between him and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on the number of corruption cases against the latter, he said that the CM was babbling fearing a huge defeat for the UDF. On Mr Chandy’s threat to move legally if VS did not withdraw his statement, he said that he did not take such words seriously.
Pinarayi files nomination in Kannur
CPM Politburo member and Dharmadam constituency LDF candidate Pinarayi Vijayan submitted his nomination on Monday at Kannur Collectorate. Accompanied by a procession of party workers shouting slogans, the CPM strongman submitted his nomination to Assistant Development Commissioner (General) around 12 pm.
LDF candidates E P Jayarajan (Mattannur), Kadannapally Ramachandran (Kannur) and T V Rajesh (Kalliaseri) also submitted their nominations along with Pinarayi. CPI Assistant Secretary C.N Chandran, CPM state committee member M. V Jayarajan and K.K Ragesh were also present during the submission of nomination.
Ahead of the submission, Pinarayi visited the houses of E K Nayanar, Azhikodan Raghavan and Chadayan Govindan and also met writer T. Padmanabhan.
He is the only candidate from the constituency who had filed nomination so far.
No dummy candidate submitted nomination for Pinarayi on Monday.
