Hyderabad: Noted balladeer Gaddar’s son G. Surya Kiran, popularly known as Suryam, has joined the Congress party and is likely to be the Congress candidate from Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly for the ensuing Legislature elections in 2019, according to sources.

The constituency is reserved for a Scheduled Caste (SC) candidate and Suryam belongs to SC Mala community.

The 42-year-old leader had earlier worked for TRS in Malkajgiri Parliamentary constituency and also worked for the BJP in the elections to MLC posts. When Deccan Chronicle contacted the Congress man, he said: “There is no clarity on the ticket assurance  as of now. It is my first day with the Congress. I am yet to think over fighting elections”.

Along with Surya Kiran, BJP senior leader and former Minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday joined the Congress party in the presence of senior leaders. Also, BJP leader Adi Srinivas shifted his party loyalty.
