ADILABAD: Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna and some senior BRS leaders on Tuesday criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement that the BJP would scrap the 4 per cent reservations to Muslims if it came to power in Telangana. The BRS leaders extended their support for Muslim reservations.

BRS MLAs from the region participated in constituency-level meetings with important party leaders and elected representatives in all the 10 assembly segments. Forest minister  Indrakaran Reddy participated in the meeting in Nirmal.

Adilabad MLA Jogu Ramanna lambasted the BJP and Amit Shah for his remarks against the reservations to Muslims and said the BRS knew how to run the state.

The MLA said BJP senior leaders Bandi Sanjay, Etala Rajendar and Dr Laxman being BCs should influence the BJP high command to facilitate a BC Census. “Having data for every caste is a must to implement the welfare and development schemes for any community and the BC census is a must for their empowerment,” he said.

He questioned why the BJP government at the Centre had no ministry for the welfare of BC communities. The central government allocated very meagre funds in its budget for BC welfare while the Telangana government allocated thousands of crores for this purpose, he claimed.

Jogu Ramanna demanded that the central government introduce a bill in parliament to ensure reservations for BCs in legislative bodies.

“We have taken up various development works with Rs 4,500 crore in the Adilabad assembly constituency in the last nine years,” he claimed.

Another BRS leader Godam Nagesh alleged that the BJP government at the Centre was showing discrimination against Telangana state in the allocation of funds, institutions and projects.

Zilla Parishad chairman Rathod Janardhan said a lot of development has taken place with the Rs 200 crore funds the state government allotted for Adilabad town and the works were done under the leadership of Jogu Ramanna. As many as 18 resolutions on various subjects were passed in the meeting.

DCC chairman Addi Bhoja Reddy, Adilabad municipal chairman Jogu Premender, vice chairman Zaheer Ramzani, senior BRS leaders Goverdhan Reddy, Rokandla Ramesh, Sajidoddin, Mettu Prahlad, Yonus Akbani and others were present.
